Sorry not strictly DIY... We want to replace 2 existing pendant lights and a spotlight with some recessed lights. Ideally we'd only access from below (want to avoid lifting carpets upstairs) but I assume that's possible? Will it involve removing large parts of ceiling? It has some sort of artex on it which we want to get rid of anyway. Would the electrician do that, or will we need a builder to remove the ceiling first (obvious we'll need someone to redo ceiling afterwards)?

When I open the cap of the recessed lighting in my home, I was surprised to see no bulb but little squares.
